OUR ANNUAL AGENDA

The Long Island Water Conference plays an active role in the state and local legislative process to ensure the best interests of the public and its drinking water supply are always top of mind.

There are seven key areas we are focusing on:

  1. Continued need for drinking water infrastructure funding

  2. Support for S.8730/A.7521 to provide water utilities with access to water quality infrastructure improvement funding

  3. Provide adequate funding to NYSDOH Bureau of Public Water Supply Protection & NYSDEC Region 1 Water Division

  4. Support for S.4350 Hinchey /A.3133 Steck calling for the enactment of the “Safe Water Infrastructure Action Program Act”

  5. Investment in Workforce Development

  6. Water conservation legislation to improve lawn irrigation efficiency

  7. Support $70 million for Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP)

The Long Island Water Conference hosts an annual Legislative Forum that brings together Long Island's water suppliers and elected officials from all levels of government. Every year, this informative event provides a platform for a thought-provoking conversation about the most significant legislative issuing facing Long Island's water supply and distribution system.
